Ancient Rome

A true must see for every visitor coming to Rome.

With a reservation thus avoiding any possible queues, we start our tour with the most famous monument to have survived from the classical world, the Colosseum, the largest amphitheater of the Roman empire able to hold some 73,000 spectators.

Opened in 80 AD by the emperor Titus, the inauguration games with gladiators fights, beast hunts and bloodshed lasted a hundred days, Suetonius claims that during these celebrations 5,000 animals were killed on a single day.

We will bring to life the cruel re-enactment of mythological stories and the dangerous, painful lives of “ those about to die” the gladiators!

Our tour proceeds to skirt the Palatine hill, the most famous of the seven hills where according to tradition Rome was founded by Romulus on the 21st of April 753 BC!
From here in the steps of triumphal processions we walk down to the valley of the Roman Forum, the first political, civic and economic centre of ancient Rome.

Remains of impressive buildings are all around: the House of the Vestal Virgins, the Temple of Julius Caesar, the Senate Housewith our commentary this holy of the holies of the civilized world will leave a profound and lasting impression on you.

In no place other than the Forum one can get such a vivid image of the people who conquered and created an empire.

We finally climb the Capitoline hill, once a natural fortress becoming later the centre of the State cult with the most venerated temple of Jupiter Optimus Maximus Capitolinus, “the best and the greatest of all Jupiters “ the city’s special protector.

We end in the most celebrated Italian square: Michelangelo’s spectacular Piazza del Campidoglio.
